First of all thank you to the author for posting the warnings re the context of her book. She is right on the money there is atremendous amount of graphic and violent sex but that is not why I did not like it. Throughout much of the book there is this
feeling of total despair and hopelessness linked with really horrid sex over and over again until you get to the point of "All
right already I get the picture!" And while I realize Hayley is desperate in her escape attempt surely she should have
thought her plan better then to return to the town from which she was picked up from. When Dustin mysteriously shows
up to visit her evil knight (wow what a coincidence!) she makes an amazing escape in the back of his car-serioiusly?
After reading it I was really depressed mostly from the violence and treatment of Hayley but also the use of non stop
sex with little regard for the reader or Hayley.

This is the first book in the His Agenda series. I was honored to receive an ARC of this wonderful book from Dori Lavelle. I don't want to say too much about the actual story because I don't want to spoil it for anyone else. I have to say this book had me at the prologue, it was... chilling to say the least. It starts off with a young woman named Haley who has gotten herself into deep trouble. Haley is all alone in the world with no family or friends. Jude MacKnight is a very rich, handsome, successful businessman who comes to her rescue when she needs it the most. I have to say at first I was thinking Haley was an inconsiderate, spoiled, immature bitch who wasn't appreciative of her husband & everything he gave & did for her. I'm probably the only one but I actually liked Jude & then not so much. I'm really anxious to see how the rest of the story plays out, can't wait for the next part, Dangerous Intentions !
Looks can be deceiving. Beautiful people sometimes hide the ugliest monsters just under their skin. You might think you have been saved from the worst horror of your life, then find you have married it.
Haley was beyond terrified when Jude saved her. Horrible circumstances left her vulnerable and alone. She didn't know what to expect from this beautiful man that swooped in to save her. She couldn't guess why he was helping her. It certainly wasn't for her benefit.
Jude was far from his saintly namesake. There was no good in that black soul of his. He played a cat & mouse game with Haley until he had her cornered in his secure home. After playing with her for a few weeks he began his transformation from savior to husband.
Haley knows something's wrong and prays she'll survive long enough to escape before Jude's dark side totally engulfs her.
Can you guess I loved this book? I can't wait for His Agenda 2
This is a totally different way for Dori to right but I have to say I loved it.
The story is about Haley following in the same footsteps as her mother of prostitution.
Until one night when she was with a punter called Leon in one of the biggest hotels owned by Jude Mcknight changed her life forever because when Haley woke next morning to see Leon murdered beside her and she was covered in blood and holding the murder weapon.
Jude knew what had happened in the hotel room and covered everything up by keeping Haley at his house for a month till things blew over.
Within that month Jude been the person he is started failing in love with Haley. When they married that's when we see the other side of Jude McKnight.
Jude is a control freak won't let Haley do much on her own without their driver Nolan who she has her doubts about him.
Jude was looking to start a family with Haley but with the way he has be treating her she doesn't want a child so she keeps taking the pill but when Jude finds out he goes off the rail and denies Haley of all her privileges and locks her in the house.
I won't spoil it anymore this series is well worth a read.
It is a great pleasure to read and review Veiled Obsession by Dori Lavelle.
Veiled Obsession by Dori Lavelle carries a very strong warning and should be heeded! This is not your regular hearts and flowers, happily ever after offering!
Veiled Obsession is written as though Ms. Lavelle has immersed herself in researching the subject of domestic abuse or lived through the terror herself. I am amazed at the emotions that I experienced while reading it. As a survivor myself, it resonated very deeply in me. I experienced the joy, the disbelief, the shame, the anguish, the terror and the hopelessness Ms. Lavelle wrote into Haley, and I still feel a deep and abiding hatred for Jude Macknight that will carry me through this series, His Agenda.
Well done, Dori. Your range and writing abilities continue to amaze me with every subsequent novel.
I highly recommend Veiled Obsession by Dori Lavelle and give it five steaming hot cups of Room With Books coffee.

Talk about a nail-biter! I could not put this book down. I just needed to know Haley was going to be alright.
It is difficult to write a review about this book without giving away too much. Yes, Haley marries a man she meets and he appears to be her savior. He gets her out of a scrape and is so supportive and caring she cannot help but be grateful. This man is not what he appears to be. After they marry, things change and what he puts her through, not many people would survive.
It is a mystery. It has suspense. It has thrilling moments where the excitement of hoping she can get away will have you soaring. There are moments when your spirit will be at its lowest being a silent participant to the horrors she faces.
The second book is about to go live, so you will not have to wait to find out what happens next. Believe me... this story will haunt you! Dori Lavelle you rocked this storyline!
